AWARDS
2023 Tourism Awards 2023 for "The Journey of Alpheus" by Efi Panagopoulos and George Voukanos
With the top Tourism awards, the "Tourism Awards 2023" at a brilliant event in Athens, the multi-thematic project "Mythical Melodies of the Rivers" of the company ANTHOS MCE was awarded, for the musical work "The Journey of Alpheus" by Efi Panagopoulos, with music by Giorgos Voukanou which was also the opening event of the 1st International Festival of Ancient Fairy. A highly successful event that internationally promoted the area as a landmark of cultural tourism and was held at the tourist port of Katakolo in the presence of a large number of people.
This top award is a great vindication for the two creators, since it was held with particular splendor at the Hyatt hotel in Athens, in the presence of official guests and leading companies and organizations active in Greek Tourism. The institution of the Tourism Awards celebrates its 10th anniversary this year, has international exposure and recognition and gives special glamor to the awardees. The Journey of Alpheus - The Mythical Melodies of the Rivers was awarded in the Cultural Event - Cultural Routes category.
Giorgos Voukanos and Efi Panagopoulou thanked the organizers and especially the Chairman of the Awards Committee Mr. Alexandros Angelopoulos, the partners of ANTHOS MCE Multi Cultural Events and the Co-founder & Public Relations Director of the company, Melina Roma, as well as the artists who with their talent framed the event and brought to life the legend of Alpheus and Arethusa. It is worth mentioning Leonidas Kakouris, who transported the viewers to the mythical paths of history in the role of the central narrator. Along with him, the promising actress Chrysa Roma stood out as the sensitive Arethusa and the actor Vassilis Michas who captivated with the ancient Greek beauty and his performance as Alpheios. The atmospheric songs were uniquely performed by the well-known tenor Yiannis Christopoulos and the dreamy soprano Anda Athanasopoulou. The even result was completed with the primordial sounds of the group of ancient Greek instruments Lyraulos (Olga Stefou, Panagiotis Stefos, Michalis Stefos). The composer Giorgos Voukanos especially thanked the ERT Contemporary Music Orchestra under the direction of Giorgos Aravidis, the director of the Musical Ensembles Mr. Michalis Dimitrakakos, as well as the excellent director of the show Christos Fasoi for the televised broadcast of the work throughout the world through ERTWORLD.
The beginning of the journey for the multi-thematic Project "The Mythical Melodies of the Rivers" was the book by Efi Panagopoulos "The Journey of Alpheus" which was published to be given exclusively free of charge to the schools of the Municipality of Pyrgos and deals with the widespread in Italy myth of Alpheus and Arethousa and was also translated into Italian by Kelly Rogdakis. This was followed by the presentation of the book in the presence of the psychologist Maria Psarrou, who referred to the adaptation of the myth to the children's psyche. Alfeios has already planned his trip with stops in various cities in Greece and abroad with Italy as the first stop, while he will meet with the history of other rivers in Europe in the context of the now award-winning Cultural Tourism project organized exclusively by ANTHOS MCE.
This particular award is shared with Giorgos Voukanos and Efi Panagopoulou by the artists who trusted them and gave their best. A justification that will sensitize the institutional bodies for a better and more substantial utilization of the project with the aim of promoting Greek Mythology at an international level and will remove any malicious attempts to exploit it, already creating a successful model of Cultural Tourism by its creators.
